Froglife was established in 1989, in response to alarming declines in the UK's amphibians and reptiles. The organisation has since pushed hard for public involvement in their cause - through campaigns, projects and media work.

Highlights in 2008 so far include: The Today Programme, The One Show, Radio 4's World on the Move plus numerous national coverage through The Times, Telegraph, Independent and BBC Wildlife magazine.

  • Low-down on adders : In the aftermath of a recent adder bite incident, Froglife and The Herpetological Conservation Trust – both charities representing the UK ’s amphibians and reptiles- commiserate with ten-year-old victim, Mollie Hawker, and offer some advice to prevent recurrence of a similar event.   • Health-checks for the nation's frogs: Conservation charities Froglife and the Zoological Society of London (ZSL) are calling for the public to look out for and report cases of sick and dead frogs – and other amphibians like toads and newts – in an attempt to expand vital research into the state of the nation’s amphibians.   • Froglife has cross words for child safety leaflet - 10 July 2008: Froglife, a national wildlife charity for amphibians and reptiles, has expressed serious concern over a crossword puzzle given to a number of schools and youth groups in the UK as part of Child Safety Week. More details.

  • Froglife to flourish in London’s ponds - 09 May 2008 London’s amphibians and reptiles are to get a helping hand thanks to a groundbreaking initiative that will work to attract wildlife back into the Capital’s ponds. More details.

  • Stop the swap! 28 March 2008: Froglife is advising the public that they should encourage amphibians naturally into gardens rather than donate frogspawn to other gardeners this spring. The advice is being given to help national efforts to stop the spread of invasive pond plants, animals and amphibian disease. More details.
